Chapter Fifteen

JASE WAS so ready for everything to go back to normal. He’d had three hard shifts in a row. Then Kerry had pitched a fit when his folks left, and they’d wound up calling them a taxi instead of seeing them off themselves because of it.

She was finally not only in bed, but asleep, and it was the first time in Jase didn’t know how long that he and Scott were alone together.

The fact that he’d had hardly any sleep in the last forty-eight hours meant nothing. He was going to get some quality time with Scott, dammit.

He found his lover in the kitchen, wiping down the counters.

“Hey. I think you’ve spit and polished them enough, don’t you?”

Scott looked up like he was surprised, then gave Jase a sheepish grin. “I guess so, yeah. I was woolgathering.”

“Well, my folks are gone, and Kerry is sleeping hard, so come woolgather over here where I can touch you.”

“She’s going to miss them.” Scott tossed the rag into the washing machine and then headed over toward him, not near enough to touch, but almost.

Jase closed the distance between them and wrapped his arms around Scott. He leaned their foreheads together and breathed Scott in. “We need to figure out how we all fit without guests. Besides, she’ll be starting school in four days.”

If registering her went without a hitch, that was. They had an early doctor’s appointment on Monday, and then they’d go to the school and get her signed up. But he didn’t have to worry about that right now.

Jase pressed his lips against Scott’s.

Scott reached out, one hand on his hip, the kiss close-mouthed, chaste, simply them breathing together. They held it there like that for a long time, and it felt luxurious.

Then he wanted more and he slipped his tongue inside Scott’s mouth, his whole body tightening with the movement.

Scott sighed softly, then stepped close-close, letting their bodies lean together hard.

Groaning, Jase let his hand drift over to rest on Scott’s butt. One asscheek fit perfectly in his palm, and he squeezed, digging his fingers into Scott’s flesh. Oh yeah. He’d almost forgotten how good this was. Okay, so he hadn’t actually, but the reality was so much better than his memories and imagination.

He was growing to hate jacking off in the showers late at night.

“Come upstairs, baby.” Jase wanted to make love to Scott. Not furtively share blowjobs, but sink into Scott’s tight heat. They could lock the door and be quiet, right?

“Let me lock up and set the alarms, and I’ll be right up, huh?”

Jase tried not to sigh. It all needed to be done. “Okay. But you have to promise that if I’ve dozed off, you’ll wake me.”

Scott laughed, the sound merry and bright as the lights on the Christmas tree that had miraculously been put away at some point in the last three days. “We’ve gotten to be old men, old man.”

“Nah, we’ve got jobs where sleep is at a premium.” Jase was not an old man, and he wasn’t copping to that.
